If you are scratching your head and saying to yourself “What the! How the! But I need that list! I can’t possibly ever become a witch without a simple and easy to use guide that tells me exactly what to do!”, then I do have a step for you. Just one.
Step 1: Back away now. Witchcraft is not for you.
However, if you opened this link because you thought to yourself “Ha! This bitch thinks she can boil down the Craft into twelve easy steps? This I gotta see!”, congratulations, you have passed the test.
Witchcraft is not a simple path. We do not have “clear and direct answers”. We have questions. And more questions. And then some action and a few more questions after that. One must be inquisitive, self-motivated, determined and responsible to excel in the practice.
Sure, there are groups and classes one can join that will teach basic technique, or give an outline of theory. Most Traditional Wiccan covens will include a fairly through examination of magical practice. These are not bad ways to get some learnin’ on, but never EVER expect to be spoon-fed information, given the perfect “spell” or be handed the one-size-fits-all guide to becoming a witch.
If you still want to do this, check your commitment. Dabblers usually create more chaos than they repair. Then read this entire site. Read some of the books I’ve recommended. Read several other sites, especially those that disagree with me. Read books that people say are utter trash, and determine why they think that. Go out into the world and observe. Observe hard, and take notes. Create experiments in energy manipulation and in giving that little “push” to the cosmos that alters the fabric of reality just-so-much. Be prepared to deal with the consequences should your experiment blow up in your face! Persevere, and over time, you will become a Witch.
