Terry Pratchett describes Witchcraft quite admirably in his fantasy Discworld series. Now, it is fantasy, so it’s anachronistic and when magic is performed, it’s not much like the magic real world witches perform, but the attitude, the view of service, the basic practicality, etc. of Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Magrat Garlick, Tiffany Aching, Miss Twitch, et al. are examples of what witches strive for.
I don’t read a lot of book with Witches in that are anything like real world witches. It’s funny, even in novels written by real world witches, the character witches are not much like us. I think that’s because what we do isn’t that exciting to those who aren’t already part of our world?
